Review for: Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera
The Nikon D3100 Price is extremely good, you can’t get better. The low light performance is off the charts. Being a wedding photographer I was blown away by the camera’s ease of use and how professional it felt.
To compare, I looked at 100 files from all of my cameras.
Nikon D3100 DSLR is cheap in comparison to the D300 which costs around $1600 and the D700 at $2,700.
Lens;
The D3100 is the only one that came with lens included. kit lens, works outside but not great if the lights low, VR helps enormously indoors.
ISO Performance is the same between D3100 and D700.
Low Light Focusing, top was the D700.
Focus Speed top was D700.
(For Pros), external buttons & controls, top was the D700.
Menu Navigation the D3100 Nikon wins hands down.
Ease of Use again the D3100 Nikon takes it.
Megapixel D3100 = 14.2.
Sensor size goes to the D700 I won’t get into it right now, but to me this is much more important than megapixels.

Frame Rate I find my D300 best with a massive 6 photos per second.

Fantastic deal. Camera of the year for me. With good composition skills and an eye for light you can take magazine shots with this. Seriously, you’ll never regret it when you do buy it. Do yourself a favor though, purchase a Nikon AFS lens as well, one that has an aperture of 1.8, 1.4 or 2.8. They take far better portrait pictures and deal better in low light than the standard kit lens.

Only having a bulky DSLR and lenses, I decided to buy something a little smaller to slip into my handbag, I couldn’t be doing with lugging the monster about all day on vacation.
I read loads of reviews and was almost tempted to go for the Canon SX20, firstly not wanting to lose any viewfinders, plus the sx20 has HD capability, but I couldn’t get my hands on the physical product in my high street.
I discovered the Nikon Coolpix 110 had just come out and on a whim, I thought I’d try it.
I’m impressed to say the least, what a great little Point and Shoot camera.
I remember reading some Nikon L110 reviews from people upset that there were no manual settings but with every condition being covered by the many pre-sets, why complicate things?
One thing I adore is the smart portrait setting. The Nikon L110 automatically shoots a picture when it senses a smile. I kept missing my baby nephews smile in auto but this feature got me some really cute photos.
When it comes to digital zoom, I really don’t like it and only use it when I desperately have to, that’s on any camera not just this one.
I did briefly try it, and got some impressive pictures of craters on the moon, I used a tripod simply because I have unsteady hands.
Recording HD video is fantastic, even indoors in low light. But, don’t try to replace your stand alone video camera and expect to get results similar to Bollywood.
Personally I find that the mic isn’t ideally situated, there’s more than likely a good reason for the position though, i.e. minimizing recording lens movements whenever you zoom in or out (it already picks up on it so avoid zooming if possible)
Over-all the Nikon Coolpix 110 is a great camera with no major cons.
Not a pocket camera but nor is it over bulky, in between.

The Nikon L22 camera, a christmas present for my little girl, I bought to replace an earlier Nikon below the $100 mark which had only lasted 2 years, so I was concerned about the reputation Nikon had as far as Point & Shoot cameras.
Things like the plastic body and the need to access electronic menu instead of a physical knob to change even the most basic settings concerned me. But this said, the Nikon L22 didn’t trouble my daughter even slightly, she rapidly worked out how to do everything. I am awe inspired at how easily children master the most detailed and complicated phones and electronics.
The Nikon L22 has a very good size viewfinder, surprisingly easy to see even when you’re in the brightest light.
This camera is consistent at producing very high quality pictures with superb sharpness and color, and even gives good enlargements .
Good battery life using regular batteries, so replacements no problem.
My daughter adores her Nikon L22 and I find it excellent also.
The Coolpix L22 is definitely a reliable, easy to use budget level compact digital camera.
